Justice PH: The New 52 Teaser Poster

Coming to Cosmania '12 at the SM Mall of Asia's SMX Center this Sunday, September 30.

Happy 60th Birthday to Christopher Reeve...aka SUPERMAN!

I think it goes without saying that we all remember the man behind the cape and legend. Today we celebrate what would have been his 60th birthday, and despite the tragic challenges and obstacles he had to endure because of paralysis that left him a paraplegic for life, he'll always be remembered for being an inspiration and a person who overcame all obstacles. We believed that a man could fly back in 1978, and he makes us believe that we can accomplish anything even in the after life.

Christopher Reeve Superman Tribute

A big toast and happy happy SUPER birthday to the late Christopher Reeve... Kal-El. Clark Kent. SUPERMAN.

- From all your friends and fans who have made you the true Caped Wonder you are.;)

Justice League #12 cover reveals Superman/ Wonder Woman as a couple

Revealed by Entertainment Weekly, the variant cover to Justice League #12 by artist Jim Lee paints a new status quo in The New 52 era of DC Comics - Superman and Wonder Woman are now literally a "power couple", shown in this cover to be hovering and teasing a passionate kiss during the sunset. With Lois Lane dating somebody else other than Clark Kent, this leaves the door open for the Man Of Steel to date the Amazon Warrior for real. DC Chief Creative Officer and JL writer Geoff Johns says the relationship is legit, and "it will have an impact that reaches far beyond the ultimate power couple". Ben Affleck in talks with WB to helm "Justice League"

Much news has been going around for the superhero movie industry. After Marvel and Disney confirmed that Joss Whedon would be returning to direct the Avengers sequel and help work on the untitled TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as well as signing an exclusive deal that keeps him with the studio until 2015), Warner Bros. is stepping up their game by approaching a known director and actor to helm their much awaited Justice League film. That man is none other than The Town director Ben Affleck, who himself played a superhero in the form of 20th Century Fox's 2003 film adaptation of the Marvel Comics superhero Daredevil. The studio has already hired Will Beall to write the script, and now talks are to bring the Academy Award and Golden Globe winner on board to take on DC's finest team of superheroes.

Norman Alden, Aquaman, passes.

Norman Alden passed away on July 27, 2012 at the age of 87.  It is reported that his passing is due to natural causes. A veteran of television/film he portrayed Aquaman in the various Super Friends TV series in the 70's. In the series he also had smaller roles such as that of Green Arrow. Alden also Alden also appeared in Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest, Small Wonder, The A-team, Charlie's Angels and a host of other classic television shows. His passing comes just two weeks after that of Ernest Borgnine, who portrayed Mermaid Man in Spongebob Squarepants, a role that spoofed Aquaman.
A gathering in Norman Alden's honor will be held in Fort Worth in September. His family requests that donations in Alden's name be made to TCU's drama department, the department of cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles or the Frostig Center in Pasadena. (source)
There is no denying that Alden's portrayal of Aquaman contributed a large part to the pop icon as we know him today and his body of work is astounding (see IMDB). Norman Alden will surely be missed.

DC Comics to release #0 issues for New 52 Anniversary

Come September, DC Comics will be celebrating one year of it's launch of The New 52 Universe, which practically rebooted its entire comic book universe and gave a fresh new take to most of its character roster. To commemorate the occasion, the publisher will be releasing a full wave of #0 books of each of their titles, with adventures that precede and take place before the actual events that occur in the #1 issues. Regular numbering for all books will cease that month, and will resume once more with #13 on October. As these books will detail origin stories and flashbacks, it sounds very reminiscent of DC's "Zero Hour" event back in the 90's, which bore a similar marketing strategy that aimed to attract old and new readers into the fold. Whether or not this plays into current events, including the impending 2013 event "Trinity War", remains to be seen. For more on the story, visit the source post at Bleeding Cool and Comic Book Movie.

Expect the New "Zero Hour" 52 to hit all issues of DC Comics in September!

Where's Finch?! - A Batman Fan Film

Here it is... Justice PH/ Gotham PH and Gotham Madness star in their very first and simple Batman fan film feature!

"WHERE'S FINCH?!"

"On March 2012, DC Comics talent and Batman: The Dark Knight writer/ artist David Finch was invited to Fully Booked.

However, something unexpected happened, prompting Batman and his allies from Gotham PH to respond to a situation. Finch was unable to make his trip, and suspicions arose that Gotham Madness may be behind the delays. With that, The Dark Knight set out on his own investigation and ends up paying a visit to his old archnemesis... The Joker."

Timzster Productions presents "Where's Finch?!"

Fully Booked: David Finch will be in Manila this March 17 and 18!

Announced by Comic Odyssey earlier in the day, Fully Booked has officially announced via their Tumblr page that DC Comics artist David Finch will be coming to Manila, Philippines on March 17 and 18 to meet and greet fans at the bookstore's branch at Bonifacio High Street. This comes after last week's unfortunate news, where unforeseen circumstances had to force Mr. Finch to miss his scheduled tour for March 11, 12, and 13. Now the man behind Batman: The Dark Knight  is really coming this time, and anyone living in Manila who's a fan of his works and comics will surely want to plan their weekends for this!

Here's the official announcement from Fully Booked themselves via Tumblr!

"David Finch in Manila has been rescheduled to THIS WEEKEND! :-) We are very happy to announce this and will be releasing the details as soon as we can. Kindly stay tuned and help spread the word to the rest of his fans! :-)"

Fully Booked: Important Update on David Finch in Manila

I'd thought I'd share this bit of breaking news to everyone who was looking forward to seeing DC Comics artist and writer David Finch in Manila from March 11, 12, and 13. Via Fully Booked's official website, here's the announcement:

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

David Finch in Manila Dear Customers and David Finch Fans,

Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support for David Finch's visit! We regret to inform you that his visit to Manila this March 11-13 will no longer push through. David was already at the airport, checked-in, and ready to board the plane, when it was discovered that his passport expires in June of this year. Since a passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months to travel, David was not allowed to board the plane.

We share your disappointment at this turn of events. Likewise, David is also regretful as he is very much excited to meet his fans here.

David Finch will definitely still come to Manila, but at a later date. Please stay tuned for details.

UPDATE 2 From Timzster and Justice PH:

To those who read Fully Booked's announcement on David Finch,

I'm sure you've read the update by now, and it's unfortunate news indeed that the DC Comics artist won't be able to attend his scheduled tour. However, I and the rest of Gotham PH (Justice Ph) and Gotham Madness will still be in Bonifacio High Street tomorrow to make the most of things and do what we do best - suit up and entertain as the heroes we've come to admire and love reading in comics. We'll be there in full force as the Batman family and his accompanying Rogues Gallery, so expect to see the likes of The Dark Knight, Nightwing, Red Robin, Robin, Batgirl, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and more.

I have been informed by Fully Booked themselves that we'll be giving some Batman stuff to those still going tomorrow. Mr. Finch may not be around, but treat it as a gathering of the local Batman cosplay community if you will, and feel free to take pictures with us if you're in the area! If any of you still want to pass by and have some fun with the family, here's a good reason to take them to Bonifacio Global City and Fully Booked tomorrow.:)

 Tim/ Timzster

UPDATE 3: (Sat 1:55pm)

Just got final word from Fully Booked on the cosplay appearance of Gotham PH (Justice Ph) and Gotham Madness. Sorry fellas, that's been postponed until the time David Finch actually visits.:(

Any developments or updates arrive, I'll post it here, and check on the official Fully Booked site for details.

DC Comics unveils Jim Lee's FCBD New 52 Cover

DC Comics has unveiled the cover fans will undoubtedly talk about and want: Jim Lee's cover artwork to their Free Comic Book Day book entitled DC Comics The New 52 FCBD Edition! Besides illustrating the cover you see above, Lee will also illustrate five pages of the free book being given away on May 5, 2012, including a four-page gatefold that introduces a new storyline for Justice League, a book that he and writer Geoff Johns have launched and are currently doing for The New 52!

As Co-Publisher of DC Entertainment, Lee's work has been highly valued in the comic book world, and he's known for his works in comic books such as Wildcats, X-Men, Batman: Hush, and now Justice League. As a fan of his works, this is a stellar cover featuring the trinity of DC heroes - Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Right at the background is the mysterious Pandora, who was first introduced in the pre-New 52 storyline Flashpoint and has been seen watching events from behind the scenes. One has to wonder what kind of story the New 52 FCBD will provide besides being a primer of the new DC Universe. We can only wait and see until it comes out, absolutely for free, on May 5th, Saturday this year! For more info, visit the source post at DC The Source!
