Ben Affleck in talks with WB to helm "Justice League"

Much news has been going around for the superhero movie industry. After Marvel and Disney confirmed that Joss Whedon would be returning to direct the Avengers sequel and help work on the untitled TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as well as signing an exclusive deal that keeps him with the studio until 2015), Warner Bros. is stepping up their game by approaching a known director and actor to helm their much awaited Justice League film. That man is none other than The Town director Ben Affleck, who himself played a superhero in the form of 20th Century Fox's 2003 film adaptation of the Marvel Comics superhero Daredevil. The studio has already hired Will Beall to write the script, and now talks are to bring the Academy Award and Golden Globe winner on board to take on DC's finest team of superheroes.

Norman Alden, Aquaman, passes.

Norman Alden passed away on July 27, 2012 at the age of 87.  It is reported that his passing is due to natural causes. A veteran of television/film he portrayed Aquaman in the various Super Friends TV series in the 70's. In the series he also had smaller roles such as that of Green Arrow. Alden also Alden also appeared in Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest, Small Wonder, The A-team, Charlie's Angels and a host of other classic television shows. His passing comes just two weeks after that of Ernest Borgnine, who portrayed Mermaid Man in Spongebob Squarepants, a role that spoofed Aquaman.
A gathering in Norman Alden's honor will be held in Fort Worth in September. His family requests that donations in Alden's name be made to TCU's drama department, the department of cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles or the Frostig Center in Pasadena. (source)
There is no denying that Alden's portrayal of Aquaman contributed a large part to the pop icon as we know him today and his body of work is astounding (see IMDB). Norman Alden will surely be missed.
